Creating Connections

(Modern Portrait) I wanted a portrait of my beautiful wife and she said, “Absolutely not!” She did not want to feel like a posed icon to be admired. I convinced her to meet with Kathleen and what they came up with is so fresh and fun! It’s a cool painting that happens to be a portrait. We love it! Everyone who sees it smiles.

We have moved 6 times since our children’s portraits were made. At every new house, the first thing that goes up are those 3 paintings. Then it feels like home.

We loved working with Kathleen. It was easy and she made it fun for my daughter, who, at age 5, refused to stay still for photos. I heard them laughing during the photo shoot. And the portrait is so beautiful. She’s in college now, but I feel my baby girl every time I look at it.

(Pet Portrait) We knew that Kathleen’s family had a few dogs and we wanted an artist that loved dogs to paint our Nellie. What we got is a painting of Nells with that sweet look she’d give you that melts our hearts.

This is a portrait of our daughter Claire and her favorite chicken that we commissioned Kathleen to paint. It’s been hanging in our living room for fifteen years now, and it still makes me smile every time I pass it. Kathleen really captured the essence of young Claire, who took her job as a chicken tender quite seriously. Claire thought it was very exciting to be the center of a photo shoot and was thrilled when the finished portrait was hung on the wall. She loved showing it off to all her friends.

(Modern Water Portrait) It’s our “portrait” and we just love it! It’s in the perfect spot so we walk by it 10 times a day and it’s such a conversation starter. I had to rush out and get yellow pillows to match!

I’d had Kelly’s 2 older sisters painted years ago, but Kelly was only a baby then. When I got to know Kathleen and see her work, I knew I could finally have Kelly painted. Now her 2 sisters say, “If the house is burning grab Kelly’s portrait!”

(Pet Portrait) Between the time of commissioning a painting of our sweet Daisy and the date for the photos, poor Daisy had passed away. Kathleen worked diligently with us to comb through old photos, working to find the one that would make a beautiful painting - one that showed our Daisy as we loved to think of her.
