My goal is to make the whole experience of commissioning a portrait enjoyable, simple, and easy for you and the subject(s).

We start with an initial discussion to talk about your vision and various ideas of how to achieve that. Planning includes choosing a setting, clothing, & accessories. If you know where you would like the painting to hang or have any size restrictions, we review this. I will walk you through every step and decision, and answer any questions. Most importantly, don’t feel any pressure to know exactly what you want right away- we will arrive at that through conversations. At this point, a 50% payment is greatly appreciated.

The next step is photography. I take all of my own photos, which are my resources and ‘drawings’, and are a critical part of the process, so we will probably schedule 2 photo sessions. Your youngster may have to skip a violin or soccer practice, but I promise to make it as fun for them as possible, involving them in the process.

After reviewing all of the photos, I’ll select a few and we will review them together. Only you know that ‘real’ smile or that dreamy look in the eye that just melts your heart, so it’s important that we choose images together.

Now the painting starts and I will contact you once your painting is complete and ready for your approval. My client has the final say-it is no problem to make small adjustments at this time, if necessary.

Last steps are the final payment and delivery, with local pickup or shipping as necessary. I am happy to assist you with framing if you would like, as apart of my service to you.
